The Rev. Dan
Buttry, International Ministries missionary,
urges young men and women between 19 and 29 to
consider serving on an Xtreme Team this year. He
writes:

When I
led the Xtreme Team to the Republic of Georgia
in 2005 it was one of my greatest experiences of
mission and ministry. The impact in the lives of
the 8 young adults on that team was incredible.
Most of them have continued doing volunteer
mission work in the Dominican Republic, the Gulf
Coast, Costa Rica and China! The Xtreme Team is
an Xtraordinary opportunity to develop the
emerging generation of leaders for mission
around the world and in your own community.
Here's the
latest announcement from International
Ministries about the 2007 teams:
We would like
to Xtend a challenge to you! Can you identify
two young adults (ages 19 - 29) that are
outstanding, bright leaders? Young adults who
are Xtreme for Jesus? Men and women who would
rise to the challenge of the Xtreme Team this
summer? We want your best...please send them our
way, and to www.xtremeteamonline.org to find out
more about Xtreme Team and to apply. This year,
teams will either be with Ray and Adalia
Schellinger-Gutierrez in Mexico or Pieter and
Nora Kalkman in the Czech Republic. We know that
either of these Xperiences will take team
members to the Xtreme!
I would urge
you to pass on this information to anyone
between the ages of 19 and 29 (next summer),
especially someone with developing leadership
abilities. Seminary students, people exercising
leadership in church or campus ministries, even
young pastors, people who have been on voluntary
mission trips, etc. But let them know that the
Xtreme Team is Xtreme -- it will push them far
beyond what they've been through before!
They won't be
able to choose between Mexico or the Czech
Republic --participants are assigned by a
variety of valuations.
So think about
the "cream of the crop" of your young adults,
then suggest this to them. They will need the
support of the whole church to go, but it's an
investment well worth it!
