Some things never change....and some things do!

The ABC/Ohio Missions Conference has been a Labor Day weekend tradition since 1973. It has been a source of inspiration, spiritual awakening, fellowship, encouragement, relaxation, and renewal for many, many people throughout the years.

The 2007 conference, the 35th, is being planned knowing that God’s Spirit is already preparing those who will share God’s Word, those who will lead workshops and those who will lead the times of worship. God also has plans for the receptive hearts and minds of those who will attend.  The challenge for the weekend will center on the theme, Servant Leaders: Called – Anointed – Sent.

Leading in worship throughout the weekend will be Rev. Steve Roper and the praise team from Trinity Baptist in Marion. Dr. Richard Farmer, senior pastor at Trinity, will be the opening preacher on Friday evening.

Ohio natives, Duane and Marcia Binkley, will be the missionary speakers. They are American Baptist International Ministries Missionaries and have an exciting story to tell of their new opportunities serving the Karen hill tribe people of northern Thailand and Burma who are coming in great numbers to the United States. The Karen are being re-settled from refugee camps along the Thai-Burma border and the Binkleys are assisting local churches as they connect with them. The special speaker for the weekend will be Dr. David Brown. David is a former ABC/USA Missionary along with his wife, Ellen, and served as a professor at the International Theological Seminary in Prague in the Czech Republic. Ellen served as the coordinator for Missionary Kids around the world.

The 2007 Missions Conference will be held at the Heartland Conference Retreat Center near Marengo. Find it at www.heartlandretreat.org. Many fun activities with excellent facilities include: swimming, hiking, biking, sand volleyball, basketball, tennis, and game tables. Add superior accommodations and this Labor Day weekend event becomes the capstone family vacation of the summer!
