A Time for
Praise at the Pre-Annual Gathering Event
at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Columbus |
The 181st Annual Gathering
of the American Baptist Churches of Ohio kicked off
with a special "Pre-Annual Gathering Event" on
Wednesday night, October 11 at Hillcrest Baptist
Church in Columbus.
It was a wonderful assembly of
pastors and church leaders with
Dr. James Herrington. Spirits were
high as this pre-event was a great start to the
Gathering.

Pastors and leadership team members
from churches participating in the Congregational
Development initiatives had been invited along with
others to participate in a session to help in the
growth efforts of ABC Ohio. As we continue in
our efforts to "Rise Up and Build," our leaders were
challenged by Rev. Dr. James Herrington to begin to
help make good disciples and not just good church
members.
Jim also encouraged those gathered
that unity of purpose in the life of the church is
the first step to congregational transformation.
These were wise words in the midst of our efforts
throughout ABC Ohio as we work to see growth in all
of our congregations.

Dr. Jeff Wood, Associate General
Secretary of ABC/USA also brought some new insights
on Organizational Intelligence and leadership to the
group.
As part of the evening, Jim
Herrington took time to meet with the staff of ABC
Ohio and sign copies of his book "Leading
Congregational Change."
